Time's up: Push to cut carbon emissions before it's too late

The UN’s environment chief has said that it’s “Crunch time for real” in reference to the global need to cut carbon emissions in order to have any chance of averting the impending climate crisis. To stop the earth’s current trajectory of hitting a catastrophic temperature rise of 3.1 degrees C, an unprecedented level of action must be taken with regards to the global mobilisation of renewable energy, forest protection, and other measures. Currently in place targets are not being met, and even if they were, temperature rise would still reach a disastrous 2.6-2.8 degree C rise. The time for action is now imperative.
